David Thom
David Karl Thom passed away on Dec. 21, 2022.
David was born in Wichita Falls in 1955. His parents, Alfred and Barbara Thom raised him in a rough and tumble family that valued fun, curiosity and hard work. He ran home from school as a kindergartner after being scolded for drawing smiley faces on his sunshines. He never stopped drawing smiley faces.
His grandfather, Earl, adored him and introduced him to the natural world, hunting, fishing and exploring the woods around Lake Texoma.
He was an informed, engaged person, usually the funniest in the room. He built birdhouses, brewed beer, made his own Kraut and made homemade chili. He built retro teardrop trailers for he and his wife, and his children so they could continue camping together.
He was preceded in death by his mother Barbara and father Al. He leaves behind a family who loved him. His wife Carmyn Coleman Thom; sister Laurel and wife Kami Whitten of Seattle; brother Jeff Thom of Missouri; son Dennis, his wife Hillary and their children Madilyn and Denton of China Spring; and daughter Dixie, her husband Adam Watson, and their sons Abram and Tate of Hico.
David was an extremely generous person—-donating to worthy causes, making sure the little pantries were full, supporting teachers and classrooms. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to a scholarship for a deserving kid.
