Family and friends are invited to celebrate Carroll’s life during a visitation Feb. 11 from 9 to 9:45 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap. Burial will follow in Rock Church Cemetery.
Born on June 15, 1943, in Clifton, he led a life filled with laughter, camaraderie and a profound sense of service.
Carroll’s education began at Cranfills Gap High School, followed by technical training at TSTI in electrical studies. His dedication to learning and skill development paved the way for a career that not only fulfilled him professionally but also allowed him to make lasting memories with friends and colleagues.
Renowned for his jovial personality, Carroll was a jokester who relished pranks on those around him, particularly at work. Many fondly recall his spirited antics alongside his childhood friend Jimmy Oglesby. He also enjoyed his hunting trips with Taylor Payne and Larry Simmons.
A proud veteran, Carroll cherished his time serving and often spoke about the experiences that shaped his life. His commitment to his country extended beyond military service; he was actively involved in the Mason community, as well as a member of both the VFW and the American Legion. Carroll’s passion for his legacy as a veteran was evident to all who knew him.
In addition to his service, Carroll pursued a fascinating hobby of refurbishing small electronics discovered at estate sales. This pastime reflected his inventive spirit and thoughtful nature, as he enjoyed bringing new life to the treasures of the past.
Carroll is survived by his loving family, including his daughters Stephanie Williams and husband Spike and Suzi Bottlinger and husband Chris. He cherished his role as a stepfather to Nathan Benfer and Mindy Webb and husband Tony, and as a stepfather to Rusty Benfer. Carroll was especially proud of his grandchildren, Sloan Williams and fiancé Kevin Sklark, Alyssa Bottlinger and boyfriend Chance Thompson and Daniel Bottlinger and fiancé Morgan Garcia. His heart was further warmed by the joy of his great-grandchild, Harli Nowak.
He is preceded in death by his devoted parents, Jewel Adeline Stanford and Irvin Elmer Stanford, and his beloved wife Carla Stanford.
Carroll Stanford will be deeply missed, yet his spirit and the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
