Bobby Joe Lee

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Bobby Joe Lee, 82, on Dec. 14, 2024.
Bobby, affectionately known as Bobby Joe to his friends and Poppi to his grandchildren, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, leaving behind a legacy of love, service and zest for life.
To commemorate his remarkable life and the cherished memories, a service will be held at First Baptist Church in Hamilton on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. The family welcomes all who knew him to join in celebrating the life of a man who was loved deeply.
Bobby Joe was born May 7, 1942, in Hamilton and lived in Pottsville until sixth grade. His family then moved to Hamilton where he graduated from Hamilton High School in 1960.
After graduation, he pursued higher education at North Texas State University in Denton, where he studied clinical psychology and earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. While in college, he married his sweetheart, Linda Roberson Lee.
In 1967, Bobby Joe was drafted into the US Army where he served as a clinical psychologist for two years. During that time, he was stationed at Fort Polk, Fort Carson and Joint Base San Antonio.
After his military service, Bobby Joe moved back to Hamilton and began his career as a clinical psychologist at Texas Youth Commission where he retired in 1995.
In retirement, Bobby Joe enjoyed his time researching genealogy, buying and selling items on eBay, collecting sports cards, drinking coffee in the cafe with friends, working at Agape Thrift Store, serving as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Evant, and cheering on the Evant Elks in any sport they were playing.
He also had a great love for good food, always eager to discover new restaurants and share delicious meals with family and friends.
Bobby Joe was preceded in death by his father, James Aubrey Lee; his mother, Morine Lee; sisters Dorothy Harris and Betty Goldfuss; brother Larry Lee; and grandson Jacob Lee.
Bobby Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda Lee; son Mike Lee and wife Megan of Glen Rose; daughter Kim Lashombe and husband Tim of Haslet; and his grandchildren, Landry Lashombe, Logan Lashombe, Tess Lee and Joy Lee.
