Bill Thurman
William Larry Thurman, 76, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019.
Services were held Saturday, Sept. 21, at First Baptist Church, Farmers Branch, and a memorial service will be held Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Hamilton.
Bill was a gentle loving man adored by many with a great smile and contagious laugh. He was the “talker” of the family with an abundance of stories. His trademark suspenders were known by all and snapped by most ladies he came in contact with – even complete strangers.
He enjoyed playing 42 and chickenfoot; loved hunting and fishing, but mostly enjoyed having his family and friends around him for fellowship and fun.
Bill was a 47-year Master Mason of James A. Smith Lodge #395 in Farmers Branch, Texas and Past Master of Rock House Lodge #417 in Hamilton, Texas. He was also a 32nd degree member of the fraternal orders of Scottish Rite and the Order of the Eastern Star.
He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Farmers Branch and a current member of First Baptist Church in Hamilton. He was active in the Builders Sunday School Class and also other various activities within the church on a regular basis.
He was preceded in death by his parents Myron Beery Thurman and Mary Cleo Cox West; stepmother Dorothy Thurman; sister Myranell Husung; and first wife Wynona Malcom Thurman;
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sandra C Thurman; son William M Thurman; daughters Vanessa Thurman, Shanan Love and Sheli & Jeff Pugach; grandchildren Brittni Moss and Ben Pugach; brother Clyde Thurman and Lorraine Babb; sisters Linda Newhall, Betty Ann and Oran Ruggles, Claudia and Ben Justus; brother-in-law Frank Husung; numerous cousins; many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews; and a wealth of friends.
