Betty Hardin
Betty Lou Jeschke Hardin crossed over to heaven July 20, 2022. She was and continues to be loved by her family and friends.
Services were Saturday, July 23, at Betty’s home church, St. John Lutheran in Hamiulton. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Riley Funeral Home.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1957.
She was known for her green thumb. If you ever drove by her house, you would see her beautiful flowers. She could root any flower ever given to her. She even brought a piece of a flower home on an airplane from her sister in Louisiana—you should see it now! Sometimes we felt she loved her flowers more than she loved us! We would call and tell her we wanted her to come visit and she would always say, “Well, I better stay here and tend to my flowers!”
She was never too busy to talk on the phone — but if you knew her, you knew not to call her when the Mavs were playing! Betty loved watching basketball games and could call each player by name. If she didn’t like a player, she would let you know! She was always a good listener and rarely gave advice as to what one should do with their lives.
Betty was an excellent cook and baker. She could fry the best fried chicken and make the best sweet tea you ever tasted in your life! Her grandchildren called her Nan, and Nan made the best homemade bread you have ever eaten, never a piece left over. Everyone knew it as Nanny Bread. Her neighbors and friends loved when she shared her delicious cinnamon rolls and bread with them. She drove many miles to deliver her ginger snaps and Nanny Cookies to grandsons Stetson and Laramie and their friends when they traveled to rodeos.
She unconditionally loved each of her children. The joy of her life was watching her family grow, and she yearned to be with family any chance she could. Nan was and is adored by each of her 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty, Nan, our matriarch, was a one-of-a-kind lady who will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Lillie Jeschke; two sisters, Imogene Goins and husband Gene and Joyce Probst and husband Bill; and her special friend, Billy “Bobo” Hamilton.
Survivors include her three children, Danny Hardin and wife Angela, Ronda Hall and husband Callaway and Becky Lux and husband Mike; and seven grandsons, their spouses and their children.
Pallbearers were grandsons Stetson Hall, Laramie Hall, Seth Taylor, Garrett Lux, Corey Hodges, John Hodges and Michael Hodges.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Charles Johnson, Don Rudolph, Jerry Zschiesche, Stanley Stamford, Charlie Bottlinger, Billy Lawson, TJ Wilson and Mason Bullard.
The family requests donations to St. John Lutheran Church, 122 Cheyenne Mesa, Hamilton, Texas, 76531, or to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford St., Abilene, Texas 79605.
