ABOVE PAR - Three days after competing in the area-round of the basketball playoffs, five of Hamilton’s 2021 regional qualifying Lady Bulldog golfers returned to the links for the first time of the season last week in Horseshoe Bay. After combining for a team score of 600 on day one of the tournament held at Apple Rock Golf Course, the Lady Dogs returned the following day to play Delaware Springs and shaved 61 strokes, posting an impressive 18-hole, day two cumulative score of 539. CRACK: Sophomore Jordyn Medina is pictured squaring up before smashing the ball up the middle. Medina and the Lady Bulldog softball team opened district competition at home on Tuesday of last week with a 24-9 win over Meridian. Lily Emeyabbi led the Lady Dogs with four hits in four at bats, including two singles and a pair of doubles, and Addison Kelley smashed a two-run homer in the second. Medina commanded the mound, striking out two in four innings of work. On Friday, the Lady Dogs traveled to Blum and fell to the Lady Bobcats by a score of 19-4. At 3-2 on the year and 1-1 in district, the Lady Bulldogs were scheduled to host Rio Vista on Tuesday of this week before traveling to face Jonesboro at 4:30 p.m. this Friday. Every member of the 2021-22 Bi-District Champion Lady Bulldog basketball team nabbed District 12-2A accolades as announced last week. Hamilton’s senior leader Skylar Carr was named the District 12-2A Offensive MVP. Being named to the all-district first team were sophomore standout Brooklyn Bragg and juniors Kenedy Craig, Cortland Mehaffey and Averi Poe. Sophomore Karah Niemann received second team honors, and fellow sophomores Fernanda Olalde and Campbell Lengefeld each received honorable mention nods. Joining Carr, Craig, Mehaffey, Poe, Bragg, Niemann, Olalde and Lengefeld on the District 12-2A all-academic team were Madison Henkes, Kelton Wright, Josy McGregor, Peyton Raibourn and Laney Lane. Hamilton’s bi-district champion Lady Bulldog basketball team wrapped up another successful campaign last Friday in Cross Plains after falling to Haskell 64-47 in the area round of the playoffs.
