Hamilton’scross country program has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to talented, hardworking student-athletes. Not only did Hamilton’s varsity Lady Bulldogs claim a district title on Monday of last week in Lipan with a perfect score, the junior varsity Lady Dogs also posted a near perfect score in claiming a district title. Kayla Tawater laid claim to an individual district gold medal and was trailed by JV silver-medalist Lila Lozano and bronze-medalist Piper Hanson. Berkley Lengefeld placed fourth in district, and Alianne Downs finalized the dominant district performance by placing eighth individually. On the boys’ side, JV runner Josh Stone earned an individual district gold medal and Jonathan Hurst narrowly missed the medal stand with a fourth overall finish. Those performances were in addition to the varsity Dogs punching a ticket to the regional meet by placing second as a team during the District 112A XC Championships. It is perhaps that depth and strength in numbers that has made Hamilton a titan of the cross country industry.
