I had the pleasure of being the home plate umpire for your game tonight in Cross Plains.

I had the plate earlier today for two teams in your district. The underdog in that game won and the hate and bitterness bestowed upon me from the players and especially fans of the losing team made me question why anyone would choose to umpire. Luckily, I was able to call your game tonight and the experience was the exact opposite of what I encountered earlier today.

The City of Hamilton is currently hiring lifeguards for the rapidly approaching summer season.

Lifeguards, fencing, chlorination and daily water sampling are all measures taken to ensure that pool users have a safe and healthy experience.

But what about the private pools, from the plastic waders sold at Dollar General to the large in-ground pools on residential lots?

Swimming pools are regulated by a pyramid of federal, state, county and / or city laws, each becoming progressively more restrictive, but they all have the same objective – public safety.
