WHEREAS, The City of Hamilton, on the 5th day of May 2024, has suffered widespread and severe damage, and loss of property, and there continues the imminent threat of same resulting from heavy, continuous rains and thunderstorms causing flooding and road failures; and WHEREAS, on May 2, 2024, the Governor of the State of Texas amended the severe weather disaster proclamation certifying that heavy rainfall, flash flooding, river flooding, large hail, and hazardous wind gusts caused widespread and severe property damage, injury, or loss of life in Hamilton county in Texas; and WHEREAS, the City of Hamilton, Texas, is taking extraordinary measures to prevent the suffering of people and to protect or rehabilitate property and to initiate relief for our community; and WHEREAS, said state of disaster requires that certain emergency protective measures be taken pursuant to the Texas Disaster Act of 1975 relating to Emergency Management and Public Health, pursuant to Chapter 418 of the Texas Government Code.
