New council members

Hamilton City Council made short work of the agen-da Thursday before swearing in three new council members at City Hall.

The council canvassed the votes from the May 4 elec-tion, approved the consent agenda and heard the annual financial audit report from Jeremy Shell of Boucher Morgan Young.

Shell said more than 100 man-hours were put into the audit to cover each fund and the financials as a whole and gave an unqualified opinion, which is the highest level of assurance BMY can give as an accounting firm.

FCCLA dominates STAR Events

Hamilton High School’s FCCLA chapter dominated this year’s State competition with 4 STAR Events teams taking 1st place and one team placing 5th. In addition, FCS Testing participants Madison Flores and Maggie Wenzel both took home their own gold medals. Altogether, Hamilton took 21 individuals to State and will be taking 9 to Nationals this July, including Taylor Collett, Courtney Aing, Elaine Polster, Jaileigh McDonald, Taylor Hall, Jaley Reich, Skylar Carr, Jenna Hinton and Mattie Ondrusek.

Military, tip and prayers

Memorial Day is coming up on Monday, May 27. Be sure and fly your flags. It is a time to remember all the ones that didn’t come back home and to remember all the ones that are serving now in the military.
