Jim Thames
James Harold “Jim” Thames, Jr., 76, of Crockett, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, in the First Christian Church with Dr. Tim Allen officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
Jim was born July 18, 1944, in Jacksonville to James Harold Thames, Sr. and Minnie Ruth Todd Thames. He was an active member and past Master of Lothrop Masonic Lodge #21 AF&AM and was also a member of the Grapeland Lodge #473 AF&AM.
Jim taught stained glass classes and was a member of the First Christian Church. He was a master jeweler and watch repairman for 45 years, and he and his wife Kathy were owners of Thames Jewelry Store on the square in Crockett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Minnie Ruth Thames, and brother Roy Glenn Thames.
Jim is survived by his wife, Kathy Thames of Crockett; son Russell T. Thames and wife Amanda of College Station; daughter Deirdre Babcock and husband Chris of Aledo; grandchildren Ryan James Thames, Nicolas Todd Thames, Gregg Babcock and Megan Babcock; sister Elizabeth Roarke Williamson and husband Rick of Flower Mound; and niece Shelly Renee Kelly and husband David of Georgia.
