Gloria Walton

Gloria Elaine Matthews Walton, surrounded by her family gracefully went to be with her Lord on July 20, 2021.

A memorial service will be held at Lanham Methodist Church, 11715 FM 1602 at the intersection of FM 1602 and Hwy 22, on Saturday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m.

Mrs. Walton was born March 11, 1921, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Sadie Godfrey Matthews and Samuel Matthews. She moved to Houston as a child. She was a loyal family woman who dedicated her life to her family and her church.

She retired from the Harris County Court System in March of 1984. She was a charter member and the last founding member of St. Albans Episcopal Church of Houston, where she and her husband helped build the church from the ground up, brick by brick.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, her husband, Elmer John Walton Sr., three grandchildren and other family members.

She is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, three nieces, a nephew and several other family members.
