Dorothy Meissner


Dorothy Jean Meissner, 84, died Saturday, April 7, 2018, in Round Rock.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 12, at Faith Lutheran Church, 4010 Williams Drive, Georgetown, at 10:30 a.m.

Mrs. Meissner was born in Hamilton March 25, 1934, to  Robert and Esther Williams, and baptized in Hamilton in 1934.

She graduated from Scott and White Nursing School in Temple in 1956. She served in Nigeria as a missionary's wife for five years and raised her four daughters. She subsequently served for the next 30-plus years as a nurse for several counties throughout Central Texas in addition to being a mom, pastor's wife and church organist for many Lutheran congregations including St. Paul in Aleman.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Rev. Alvin Meissner.

Survivors include her four daughters, Marcy Menke (Ken), Becky Menke (Tom), Mimi Winkler (Chris) and Rachel DeYoung (Michael); grandchildren Joshua, Benjamin (Emily), Heidi (Joe), Andrew, Noah, Kelsey (Kyle), Jacob, Hannah, Daniel, Luke and Gabriel; great-grandchildren Tyler, Owen and Trevor; two brothers, Harold Williams (Linda) and Ken Williams (Kathy); sister-in-law Shirley Meissner; and brother-in-law Robert Meissner.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jesus is Lord Mission, Walburg; Concordia High School, Pflugerville; or Concordia University, Austin.
