Funeral services for Margaret Giles, 77, of Athens were held Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church, Athens, with Pastor Seth Davidson officiating.

Burial was in Carroll-Springs Cemetery under the direction off Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.

Margaret was born Dec. 30, 1940, in Hamilton to Bruno G. and Alwine Nauret Goerdel. She was a resident of Athens for most all her life and a charter member of St. John Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Sue Ann Giles.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Lowell Giles, son Lloyd Giles and wife Jan; granddaughters Aimme Burks (Joshua), Elizabeth McCullough and Lee Ann Giles (Josh); grandson Jesse Giles (Sarah); six great-grandchildren; a sister; Nelda Krueger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jesse Giles, Joshua Burks, Josh Disotell, Craig Miller, Jed Dube and Walter Lawler. Honorary pallbearer was Allan Krueger.

Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 451 Lila Lane, Athens, TX 75751.
