Newt Pederson

 

Sam Newt Pederson Sr., 82, of Stephenville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, in Fort Worth, surrounded by his wife and two sons. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. until noon at Riley Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 pm in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.

Newt was born in Hamilton on Sept. 14, 1935, to John M. Sr. and Sammie Pederson. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1954, then attended Abilene Christian College and Northeast Louisiana State before starting his career.  

He married Bobbie Sue Robinson on June 26, 1955.  They had two sons, Sam Newt Jr. and David Leslie. 

He worked in retail and transportation management.  Transfers with these companies took him and his family to several cities in Texas, Louisiana and Alabama. 

He enjoyed playing golf with his sons, watching sports and TV especially, the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. 

He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother John M. Jr. and his wife Kathryn; and sister Sue and husband Brett Willeford.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie of 62 years; sons Sam and wife Suzan and David and wife Jan; two grandchildren, Kristi and husband Bo and Sam Newt III and Cecilia; four great-grandchildren, Elijah, Arizona, Ezekiel and Zoie; brother Paul and wife Nancy; sister-in-law Cindy and husband Sandy Sandell; and many nieces and nephews.
