A hazardous waste collection has been set for Saturday, March 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Civic Center in Gatesville, 301 Veterans Memorial Loop.

The collection is for residents of Hamilton, Bell, Coryell, Lampasas, Milam, Mills and San Saba counties, and proof of residency will be required.

Five-gallon buckets of paint in various colors will be given away free at the event.

The collection, sponsored by City of Gatesville and Central Texas Council of Governments, will accept paints, pesticides, herbicides, household cleaners, acids, chemicals, appliances, batteries, electronics, televisions, used oil, antifreeze, petroleum products and cooking oil.

Old tires will be accepted. The first four tires are free for car and light truck tires, and $3 for each additional tire. Large tires will be priced on site; no rims. Cash or check only.

Do not bring fire alarms, smoke detectors, explosives, pressurized containers, medications or prescription drugs or household trash.
