Here’s something Hamilton has needed for a long time:

Prime Timers, the new “breathing room” care program, got off to a great start for its first three weeks.

Four families have signed up and are enjoying this arrangement once a week. Under the sponsorship of the Hamilton First United Methodist Church and housed in its youth building across the creek from the sanctuary, Prime Timers offers a break for family caregivers by providing a free six-hour program on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Several volunteers supply meals, snacks, games, movies, conversation and hearty laughs while the family members enjoy a break.

To learn more about this program, contact the church office at 254-386-8155 or Michael Langford at 254-386-1296, email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Registering is simple, requiring only the name, address and phone number of the guest, condition or diagnosis, special dietary, care and medication needs, information on whether the guest is ambulatory, continent/incontinent, and if dependent on a chair or wheelchair. Name and emergency phone number of the caregiver are also required. It’s that simple!

Want to volunteer? Same contact information.  Want to support the program otherwise? Make your check out to “FUMC-Prime Timers.”

Thanks for helping make this much-needed program available and welcoming to all who can benefit.
